Calendar Entry: Atlanta Workplace 2/22/2013
On February 22, 2013, Designers, Facility Managers, and other professionals who work in the building industry will come together for Atlanta Workplace – a one-day educational and networking event being held at the Loudermilk Center in downtown Atlanta. Atlanta Workplace costs just $99 to attend and is sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and its partners, the Atlanta Branch of the Georgia Chapter of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and the International Interior Design Association of Georgia (IIDA). Together, the three organizations are providing a total of 9 educational sessions on building operations, sustainability and design.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Change > Opportunity”. As we look at a vastly changed landscape for the workplace compared to what existed 10 or even 5 years ago, building professionals must navigate these changes deftly, turning them into opportunities for both personal and organizational improvement and strengthening. Courses will be submitted for accreditation for CEUs, CFM maintenance points, and GBCI LEED AP credential maintenance points. Bill Cronin of Invest Atlanta and our lunchtime speaker, the event’s keynote speakers, will discuss the future of Atlanta as well as the future of the workplace. In addition, the exposition portion of AWP provides an opportunity for building professionals to connect with national and local vendors who can help them solve important on-the-job challenges.
At just $99, AWP is a one-of-a-kind event that truly offers an excellent return on investment to attendees. Register now to reserve your spot! Register here!

IIDA & ASID Issue Statement on Joint Initiatives
The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and
American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Boards of
Directors have issued a statement reaffirming their desire and intention to
continue our work together on issues of mutual interest that benefit the
members of the interior design community.
Recent joint endeavors include:
* Substantial investments by IIDA and ASID with the Interior Designers
of Canada to restructure the Interior Design Continuing Education Council
(IDCEC), the profession's CEU registry for Interior Designers.
* Ongoing planning with IIDA and ASID to jointly provide a new, more
accessible and lower cost NCIDQ preparatory program for designers.
* Increased opportunities for student chapter collaboration through
the joint promotion of student member experiences including the Student
Career Exchange and Student Career Bootcamp at NeoCon 2012.
* A joint IIDA and ASID Fellows summit at NeoCon 2012
The senior leadership and boards of both organizations continue to explore
joint initiatives that support our collective Members. We will meet later
this month to continue that work and help provide strong leadership for our
industry.
Our organizations look forward to working together to further strengthen the
design industry.

J+J Invision's FINE LINE
by Allyn Martin
There’s a fine line between tastefully tailored and overly traditional or lively neutrals and dull monochromatics. Striking just the right balance between the two isJ+J/Invision’s Fine Line, a tailored and tonal modular only product. Using a variegated field of texture, in varying proportions, each tile creates a random yet balanced composition for any commercial setting. A subtle accent pin stripe in each tile helps to add visual depth and dimension to the installation.
There is a symmetry and synchronization to the clean, woven-like areas of pattern, giving the product a traditional look with a nod to all things modern. A patchwork, or contemporary and tonal plaid-like effects take command of the floor when Fine Line is installed in either brick or quarter-turned.

Color Palette
The nine color palette was intended to be mostly neutral, usable and tonal. Ranging from light neutrals to a dark black and deep red, all nice colors coordinate well with many of the existing, top selling products in J+J/Invision’s standard line.
